Liver Time
November 9, 2012Competing with Complaints
November 9, 2012Your high school days are the best times of your life. That is a bunch of crap. The only way that high school is the best time of your life is if you want to try and live the rest of your life as a teenager. An adult is supposed to figure out what works for them to excel in life and not try to be like someone else. I am sorry if that is a wake-up call for you.
Yes, during my high school days, I discovered that I couldn’t eat and drink like some of my friends. I didn’t know why, but we will call it gut instinct. I had cramping, diarrhea, bloating and, not to mention acne, like a triggered mine field. I was able to connect that certain foods made my gut turn inside out. I didn’t know about stuff like fats, carbohydrates, proteins, let alone food additives. To this day I wonder how a kid can graduate without knowing where their stomach or liver are, but can change the oil in their car and know how to prevent a pregnancy.
In school I tried to fit in with the main stream crowd, thinking that they knew what it was to be healthy. I didn’t know what it was to be fit. I learned all this as an adult, and I am making sure that my children learn it right from the beginning. My kids are part of a track and field club. Now they are fit people.
I’ve realized that my friends at school were not in good shape, just misinformed. I understand now that while you may be able to get away with poor eating as a teenager, it will eventually catch up with you. If you want to fit in today’s adult world, stand around and complain about what is wrong with the world and do nothing to change it.* If you want to stand out, you can still complain about the world but you have to make sure you do something about it.*
