High School Days
November 9, 2012Did you ever experience liver time? No, I didn’t say Miller time. It is the time between 1:00 and 3:00 in the morning when we should be sleeping. Our creator made it the best time for your liver to metabolize food and cleanse our bodies. If the liver struggles with either of these functions, you will wake up or have a restless, useless sleep. For me, I’m gifted with a liver that not only wakes me up but goes into full discharge mode.
Twenty something years ago, when I was working with a Naturopath to return myself to health, I learned this lesson first hand. Numerous times it happened that I would wake up, instantly alert, and slightly nauseated. Whenever this happened and I looked at the clock, it was somewhere between 1:00 and 3:00 a.m.
What the heck was going on? And oh boy, I am glad I didn’t know how bad each of the following hours would be.
I would head for the bathroom to see what was going to happen. I would sit first, because I would rather have gravity help my discharge than to work against me. I was blessed with bowels that would kick in without the tremendous pain that can happen when we are in this situation. But there was no denying the smell of something awful leaving me. Now, if I was lucky, this would go on for two or three hours and leave me totally exhausted. If I was unlucky and the bowel wasn’t fast enough to discharge the toxins from my liver, my stomach would help and the vomiting would begin. I used to sit on the throne with the garbage pail between my legs. I amstill amazed at how our stomachs can reverse food direction so fast. Worst of all had to learn that this was all part of God’s plan for getting me better. Cool. Liver time anyone?
